It is easy to make the argument that smart phones are no longer a luxury. They represent a world of music and messages that fit perfectly into the back pocket of a pair of jeans.
Our phones deliver reminders of errands, maintain our calendar, provide driving directions, and of course Siri is on call 24/7 for everything else. So if a device is so essential, is it possible for it to take control? Mmmmm…..
-
Do you spin into a momentary panic when you lose sight of it?
-
Do you imagine that you hear it ringing when it isn’t?
-
Is checking your phone one of the first few things you do in the morning and one of the last things you do at night?
-
Do you text while walking because you need to respond immediately?
-
Do you have multiple phone chargers: in the car, office, home, diaper bag?
-
If you forget it at home, do you turn around and risk being late for an appointment to retrieve it?
-
Do you review emails during conversations?
-
Do you use the phone as an alarm clock because it is sitting on your nightstand anyway?
-
If you haven’t received an alert in a while, do you check to make sure your phone is still working?
-
Have you bought several cases and accessories for your phone to treat it to something nice?
If you answered yes to any of these, you might have issues. Text me and we’ll talk about it.
